We are a multimedia arts & culture publication, and events hub based in Lowell Massachusetts
We celebrate the free-wheeling spirit of the city. Howl launched online in February 2012 thanks to a small group of experienced newspaper hounds, artists, musicians and free thinkers who love Lowell and shared the same eternal question: What’s going on in the city this weekend? Inspired by Lowell’s rich history, great food, music, art, colorful characters and creative types, the first issue was forged in downtown coffee shops, bars and artist lofts over several caffeinated beverages and notes scrawled on napkins. Our name stems from our desire to hear the city’s unique voices — howl out, we are listening to you. Our message: Open your mind, dream big, create, play and take an active part in a community cultivating culture.
We inspire you to live life out in the city
There are amazing things happening all around you. Our content and event listings are designed to invite you to take part in the experiences happening right outside your door.
We support local businesses
The merchants, dining spots, coffee shops, galleries, bars and entertainment venues we visit regularly are an undeniable part of how we understand and define our lives, personal spaces and communities. It’s our mission to commemorate the greatness, beauty, innovation and heart involved in growing a local business.
We help localize brands
Through our storytelling and hands-on experiences, we create authentic connections that bring brands to life at a personal level.
