Downtown wine shop serves up weekly sip and paint parties
In every bottle of wine, there’s a personal story of place and time.
Wine novice Ellen Andre invites you to discover yours while enjoying a fun night out with friends.
The Art of Wine is a brand new event in downtown Lowell offering aspiring artists — no experience is necessary — an opportunity to paint an original picture in two to three hours while sipping vino with friends.
“It’s more than an art class,” says Andre, co-owner of the Tutto Bene wine and cheese shop at 58 Prescott St. “It’s art as entertainment. I like to think of it as social painting with a twist.”
Andre’s Art of Wine get-togethers provides paint, brushes, canvasses and aprons for recreating paintings by local artists.
Artists including Jennifer Clement, Deb Bretton Robinson and Tracy Levesque offer step-by-step instructions on which brushes to use and preparing a palette to paint an easy-to-follow piece of art.
The beginner painting classes all focus on different themes such as flowers, landscapes, seasonal themes, wine bottles and more.
“By the end of the night, you can take your finished painting home and hang it on the wall,” Andre says.
Each class serves up three new wines for guests to sample throughout the evening.
Jennifer Muldoon, who hadn’t painted since middle school, showed Howl her finished painting of water lilies.
“It’s funny what wine will inspire you to do,” she says.
Art of Wine sessions cost $35 each. Guests are encouraged to arrive at 6:30 p.m. to have some wine and get their paints ready. Painting begins promptly at 7 p.m.
Reservations are recommended because classes tend to fill-up quickly, so check the Tutto Bene Art of Wine calendar here to see their different class offerings.
